Last Game and Awards

We are excited and a little sad to be headed in to the last game of the season tomorrow, Dec. 10th.  It's going to be a great day to play soccer.  After each game, we will hold an awards ceremony at the check-in table, and the players will each receive a trophy.  The ribbon winners will also be announced!

In addition, we wanted to recognize all the players that participated in the regional tournament in November.  We are so proud of all the players and all the heart, effort, and skills they brought to the games.  Everyone did such a great job, and it was a fun weekend!  This Sunday, December 11th, six of the nine Cielo tournament teams will be competing in the State Championships.  Wish them luck!!!

Games Resume Tomorrow

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, and lots of  turkey! We are ready to finish the season strong as we head into our last two games. We will see everyone tomorrow at your regular game time at Summit Academy.

Fall Desert Cup Regional Tournament

We are so excited that the Fall Desert Cup Regional Tournament is finally here!  The vast majority of our Cielo players are participating in tournament, and we are looking forward to seeing you there!  If your child is not playing in tournament, there are NO REGULAR SEASON GAMES AT SUMMIT THIS WEEKEND, NOV. 19th-20th.

Registration and Check-In: (directly from the ActivStars tournament schedule)

• ALL teams are required to check-in 1 hour prior to their first game 
• Players ages 10-15 years are required to submit age verification documentation upon check-in
• Official ActivStars (or former YCOA) jersey must be worn to play in the tournament, no exceptions
• Jersey, shin guards, and cleats are required in order to play

Come prepared, and you will have an amazing experience at the tournament!  On that note, here are just a few tips from us to make your time at tournament even more enjoyable:

• Plenty of water
• Sun screen
• Layers - it may be chilly in the morning
• Food
• Shade
• Cash - Food vendors will be there, but I don't know if you can pay with a  card

Fall is Finally Here!

Hopefully, you've also enjoyed the much anticipated cooler temperatures this week.  It's starting to feel a little more like fall every day.  As usual, we are Summit Academy for games tomorrow.  Make sure you come ready for the weather, whatever the day may bring.  As always, bring plenty of water no matter what the temperature.  We are really enjoying watching the kids improve every week.  What an exciting time of year.

Game on!!!

We had some great games last week, and we are off to a great start!  We will at Summit Elementary for the remainder of the season, just like last week.  Make sure to sign in at the table before every game and make sure to drink plenty of water.  It is unseasonably hot for this time of year.  Most of all, have fun!!!

Tournament registration is closing soon!  Tournament is now open to all ages, so make sure to register tomorrow.  Forms will be at the sign-in table, so grab one when you get there!

Fall Break - No Practice Tomorrow - Except Argentina

I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weather and your fall break!  Saturday, October 8th is ActivStars fall break, so there is no practice tomorrow.  However, if you are a member of the Argentina team (10-12 years), Coach Todd will be hosting practice tomorrow from 2:00-3:15 at Desert Breeze Park. This is an optional practice for any Argentina players that are available.  Thank you Coach Todd for coordinating it!  Everyone else, enjoy your break, practice on your own, and we will see you at Mirada on Saturday, October 15th.

Week 3 and Wonderful Weather

It's hard to believe, but we are already in our third week of the season!  The weather is cooling down and the fun is just beginning!  When you come to practice every week, be sure your child brings:

• Cleats
• Shin Guards
• Soccer Ball

This is our last week that we will be selling equipment (soccer balls and shin guards), so we will have it on-site to purchase if you need it.  If you haven't already ordered your uniform, do so soon.  Games will be starting in a few weeks, and uniforms take 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Also, remember to please SIGN IN at the table. We need it for attendance, and it is required by ActivStars and Kyrene.  We also use these rosters to determine Perfect Attendance Awards at the end of the season.  Important announcements, uniforms, and schedules are there when you sign-in your child, so please come by every week. 

First Practice

Thank you for making registration day a HUGE success!  It was so exciting to see everyone back after a long summer off.  Those kids came ready to play!

Registration
If you have not already registered and paid for the season through the Kyrene Community Education Department, please do so as soon as possible.  The registration window is closing soon, and they will not reopen it for late entries.  The direct link to register through Kyrene is on the previous post, and you will also find contact information for the Kyrene Comm. Ed. Dept.  Rosters are sent to me Friday afternoon, and your child must be on the roster for them to practice. Please bring a receipt or confirmation number if you register tomorrow.  You can always call the Kyrene office and register over the phone.  We want everyone to join us, so please let me know if you need additional help.

Rosters
The rosters from last Saturday are posted on the tab "Teams - Fall 2016."  If you don't see your child's name on a roster, please let me know.  If they were not there last week, we will place them on a team after practice this Saturday.  Be sure to speak to Coach Sean (on the field) or Erin (check-in desk) to let us know your child needs to be placed.

As always, first week rosters are not final.  Coach Sean will be shifting students around to ensure proper placements of students, team balance, and adequate playing time.  He will speak to you if he feels a change would be beneficial.  We greatly appreciate your support!

Team Parents
Thank you for those of your who signed up to be parent coaches and team parents!  The team parents are listed for each team, but some teams still need one.  If your child's team still needs a team parent, please let me know and I'll make the update.  The commitment for the team parents will not be a huge time commitment, but it is a vital one.  Please let me know if you're interested.

Practice
Starting this Saturday, you will begin practice with your team at your scheduled practice time listed on the team sheet that you received.  Classes are 50 minutes long and begin each hour.  After each practice, Coach Sean will address the team and parents, so please be present during this time.  The students will be dismissed after announcements with their parent/chaperone present.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your child's scheduled practice so you can sign-in and they can suit-up!  Each week, please remember to bring:

• Soccer ball 
• Shin guards
• Cleats
• Uniform or comfortable clothes
• Water
• Sun screen

Communication
You will need to sign-in your child and the check-in table EVERY week.  There will be two rosters for you to sign (ActivStars and Kyrene), and there will be important announcements and information at the table.

There will be an list for your to sign at the check-in if you wish to be added to our Cielo (not ActivStars) email list.   If you already receiving our weekly emails, then you don't need to do anything else.  Communication is key!

If you haven't done so already, please register for another wonderful Cielo Soccer Season!  There's a new, easier interface through the Kyrene Community Ed Deptartment for registration.  When you register, make sure you choose the CIELO soccer to enroll at our location, listed as ASSOCIE.F16.  You have the option to pay for the season in full for only $70.00, or you can make two payments of $35.00.  Just click the link below to go directly to the registration page for ActivStars Soccer at Cielo.

THANK YOU and All-Star Reminder

Thank you all for another wonderful season!  Your support and efforts are noticed and greatly appreciated.  I enjoy working with the kids and watching them grow as players and people.  I look forward to seeing you all again in September, so keep an eye on the blog and email.  We will send a few updates over the summer, so you'll know when to register for the fall season.  Feel free to invite your friends as well; the more the merrier!

***ALL-STAR POOL PARTY REMINDER***

At the end of the spring season, my family and I host a pool party for the All-Star (13-15 year old) team.  It's a tradition that holds strong and allows the kids and parents to chat and have fun off the soccer field.  We can also say our goodbyes to those who age-out in the fall.  It's something that we look forward to every year, and the kids can look forward to when they are old enough to be on the All-Star team (13-15 year olds). Please let me know if you have any questions about it.

For those on my younger teams, keep practicing over the summer and have lots of fun!  Feel free to contact me over the summer if you have any questions.  Again, thank you for a great season!

Last Game and Awards 5.14.16

Our last game of the season is here!  We will see EVERYONE at their regularly scheduled game time.  Due to the awards ceremony we will hold at the end of each game, tomorrow will look a little different.  Most teams will be playing another Cielo team.  It's a fun way to end the season, and it allows us to all end at the same time to do awards.   We will see you all tomorrow!

The Season is Wrapping Up - Game #5

The season is quickly coming to a close with only 2 games to go!  We will have our awards ceremony on May 14th which is our last day of games.  We look forward to seeing your for the next two weeks!  Please be prepared for the heat and be ready to have fun!

Game #4

Saturday is our fourth game of the season!  It is business as usual, so please make sure to arrive 10-15 minutes before your game time and SIGN-IN on both rosters.  We have a Kyrene and an ActivStars roster that need to be signed weekly, so please be sure to do so.  There will be someone at the table between most games to answer questions, but we will be out on the field watching our kids at game time.  If you have any questions you can find us on the field if we are not at the table.  Thank you for your kindness and support all season!

Great Showing at Tournament!!!

I couldn't be more proud of our Cielo Soccer Stars!!!  Everyone came to play, and they did a fantastic job!  There were a lot of great plays, close games, and tons of heart.  A special THANK YOU to our parent coaches who made this all possible.  Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

Tournament Updates and IMPORTANT Traffic Information

The Desert Cup Regional Tournament is only days away.  Games will be held this Saturday and Sunday at the Scottsdale Sports Complex, and the day your child plays is based on their age and division.  You should have received a schedule at the game at Summit.  You can also view the schedules on a previous posting.  

*IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT PARTICIPATING IN TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND, APRIL 16TH-17TH, YOU HAVE THE WEEK OFF*

Tournament Reminders:

1) Be there at least 1 hour before the start of your first game
2) Bring ID to prove age (Players 10 and older)
3) Bring plenty of water and healthy snacks
4) Bring sun block
5) Get to bed on time the night before, so you are well rested for an early start

***IMPORTANT TRAFFIC DELAYS: According to ADOT, please read the following about the 101 closure on Saturday and Sunday***

Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and Thomas Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 18) for rubberized asphalt paving. Both Loop 202 ramps to northbound Loop 101 closed. DETOUR: To avoid heavy delays, consider alternate routes including westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) to westbound Interstate 10 to northbound State Route 51 or Interstate 17 to reach north Valley. Northbound Loop 101 traffic will detour to Loop 202, but expect delays.

Spring Desert Cup Regional Tournament

Spring Desert Cup Regional Tournament

Information regarding tournament went home last week.  Regional Tournament will take place on Saturday, April 16th and Sunday, April 17th.  However, registration for tournament closes on March 19th (our next practice).  Please come prepared to register for tournament at our next practice, March 19th ($40).  You cannot register the day of, it has to be done with us by the deadline. Soccer Skills Challenge, Uniforms, and Registration

Soccer Clinic

The Soccer Skills Challenge Clinic will be held this Sunday, Feb. 28th.  We still have our normal practice at Cielo on Saturday.   The program will consist of technical focus stations.  Players will refine their ball handling skills and increase their understanding of the game through challenging activities in a fun soccer camp environment.  It's a great opportunity for your child to learn and grow.  Please view the flyer below for further details.

Uniforms

Uniforms are optional, but it's a great way to show team unity and to distinguish our teams from other locations.  Here are the two options:
Uniform Pack: $46 - Jersey, Shorts, Socks ($40 at the clinic)
Uniform Jersey: $30 - Jersey only
Soccer Essentials: Black Hoodie and Water Bottle $35 (clinic only)

If you are planning to attend the clinic on Sunday, you can purchase and receive your uniform onsite that day for a discounted price (see above).   After clinic, uniforms will incur and "rush" order fee of $5 and cost $51 or $35 respectively.  If you are planning to buy a uniform this semester, please do it by this weekend.  Either turn in your raffle packet with your order to the check in table on Saturday or purchase it at the clinic on Sunday.

Registration

Kyrene graciously re-opened registration for this season, so we could enroll any late arrivals.  However, that window closes tomorrow.  If you know of anyone who wants to register for soccer this season, it needs to be done by tomorrow, FEB. 26th at NOON.  We will no longer be able to register students for the sprint season after this time.  At this point, it would be best to call the Kyrene office directly.  View previous blog posts for all registration information.

It's good to be back!  The spring season is getting ready to begin, so mark you calendar!  Our first practice is Saturday, January 30th at Kyrene de Cielo Elementary School.  Remember, you CANNOT register onsite; it has to be done online through the Kyrene Community Education website, by phone, or in-person at the Kyrene District Office.
