Last Game & Awards

Today is the last game of the season!  Cielo teams get to play against Cielo teams for a fun wrap-up to a wonderful season.  Each game will end 5 minutes earlier to allow time for the awards ceremony at the check-in tent.  Each child will get a certificate and trophy today, and ribbon winners will be announced as well!

At the end of the fall season, we like to give each player a team picture.  However, three teams were missed, so we will be taking those pictures today and emailing them out.

On a similar note, it was communicated to us that the ActivStars photographers would be there last week to take individual and buddy photos.  However, they did not show up.  We contacted the office numerous times and heard nothing in return.  Though it was out of our control, we feel bad for the inconvenience caused and the lack of pictures this year.  We know many of you look forward to it.  Hopefully, they will be there next season.

Regardless, it was a great season that finished way too quickly.  Luckily, after the holidays and a little rest, we will start right back up in January. 

Look for an email and blog post in early January with information about registration for the spring season.  Remember, because our location registers through Kyrene, registration closes after the second week of practices.  We are not able to accept new players after Kyrene closes registration. 

The registration process can sometimes be finicky, so be persistent.  If you are having difficulty registering online, you can call the Kyrene Community Education department and register over the phone.  ActivStars does not let us accept late registrants or players not on the Kyrene roster, so make sure that gets done.  We lost a couple players this season trying to register late, and we don't want that to happen again.  We want to see all of your smiling faces back again next year!

Game #5 and Picture Day!

Come tomorrow wearing your SOCCER BEST!  ActivStars will have a photographer on site tomorrow that will be taking individual and sibling/buddy pictures of your amazing athletes!  It's a great way to remember the season.  They will have a variety of options and packages, so stop by the photo table after you check-in tomorrow.  You can get pictures before or after your game. 

If your child plays at Palo Verde Park (11-15 year olds), they photographer will NOT be taking photos there.  Please bring your child to Summit during our earlier game times, if you would like to get photos of your child.

Tomorrow starts the last stretch of the season.  We have our last three games of the season on the next three, consecutive Saturdays.  Be there are your game time from the previous games at Summit Academy tomorrow.  Can't wait to see you!

What a great day!!!  We are so proud of our Cielo teams!  Win, lose, or draw, all the teams gave it their best at every game.

This regional tournament is also the qualifier for State Tournament.  A few of our teams will be continuing on to State on Dec. 17th. We will be distributing the flier for those teams that qualified at our next regular season game on December 2nd.

Fall 2017 Desert Cup Tournament Results

Fall Desert Cup

The smell of fall is in the air and the weather is perfect.  It is the season's premier event, and we look forward to it every year.  Last week, players participating in the tournament received a tournament schedule which is also posted below.  The final rosters for this weekend are also available.  Instructions and reminders have been announced for the past two weeks, but here are the highlights:

Fall Desert Cup Tournament Reminders:

• There are no regular season games tomorrow, Saturday 11/18.  If you child has not preregistered for tournament, you have the weekend off.
• Each team is schedule to play 3 games tomorrow.  Those that qualify will advance to the State Tournament on Sunday, Dec. 16th.  Qualifying teams will be notified at our next regular season game on Dec. 2nd. 
• Players 9 and older must bring proof of age: (ie. student ID, state ID, birth certificate, passport, etc.)
• ALL players must wear an ActivStars jersey (old YCOA logo is fine as well) - uniform shorts are not required

Veterans' Day

First of all, we want to thank all of the veterans who have proudly served our country.  Our hearts and gratitude go out to all those in the armed forces and their families.  THANK YOU!

We have Game #3 this Saturday, November 11th.  After this game, we will not be at Summit for two weeks.  We will head back  to Summit to wrap up the regular season during the month of December. Here is the schedule for the remainder of the season:

Tournament

Tournament teams have been submitted, and we are looking forward to an exciting weekend on Nov. 18th and 19th.  We will be playing teams from all over the east valley, and there will be teams competing from the west valley as well.  Tournament teams and schedules will be at the check-in table this Saturday.  Be sure to check check your child's team name, as some teams/names were combined for tournament.  It is shaping up to be  a wonderful weekend!

ALL players, 9 years and older, must show proof of age upon check-in at tournament.

The 9-10 year old players are playing on the fields on the SOUTH side of Princess Drive on the larger fields.

Team Lightning  - IMPORTANT

Due to an odd number of teams at the current time, the director of our site has moved the 7-8 year old team, Lightning, to an 11am game time for the remainder of the season.  Coach Sean is in the process on contacting affected families.  He will reach out to the rest of the families tomorrow.  Everyone else, please come at your regularly scheduled game time.

Our game portion of the season is underway!  Everyone did a phenomenal job on Saturday, and we love the energy, excitement, and determination on game days.  We are proud of all of our Cielo Soccer Stars.

Game Day is Here!

Games
Our first game is already here!  Please see below to find your child's game schedule.  I will be posting an updated team roster that reflects a few minor changes.

Most of the games will be held at Summit Academy in Chandler.   Argentina and All-Star teams (11-15 year-olds) play at Palo Verde Park in Mesa (just north of Summit on Dobson Road). The addresses are on the game schedule below.

Uniforms
Our next batch of uniforms has arrived!  If you placed your order a few weeks ago, it will be available at the check-in table tomorrow.  Please look for your order when you sign-in your child.  There are still more uniforms coming, so we appreciate your patience as the office fills the orders, then sends them out to us.

Snacks
The snack Sign-Up Genius was posted last week ("Snack Sign-Up" tab) and there are already quite a few slots taken.  Please sign up for a day when you can bring a healthy snack for your child's team.  You can view the posted roster as well to get a head-count.

Last Practice Tomorrow at Cielo 10/21

We have our last practice tomorrow, October 21st at CIELO!  We were anticipating a possible move due to flooding, but we will be at Cielo.

Sunday is our seasonal Soccer Clinic.  We will have additional flyers tomorrow, if you didn't pick one up yet.  Coach will make an announcement as well. 

This is our last practice of the season, because games begin next week!  The game schedule will be available at the check-in table. 

Remember to sign-in on both rosters EVERY WEEK.

ActivStars has changed how they are splitting up the age brackets.  It doesn't affect the oldest or youngest teams, but there are changes for the middle groups.  We will explain all the details tomorrow during our first practice/registration day.

The Cielo soccer season is quickly approaching!  A flyer went out with the incorrect date, so please spread the word when you get this email. 

Soccer starts on Saturday, September 23rd.

We are so excited for our last day of games tomorrow!  Games will end an five minutes early, so we have time to hand out awards.  Make sure to check-in, as usual, and we will meet back at the tent after each game.  

It has been such a great season, and we feel so lucky to spend our Saturdays with all of you.  We will see you all tomorrow!

Desert Cup Regional Tournament Results

What an amazing weekend at tournament!  Cielo made a phenomenal showing and many of the teams will qualify for the State Tournament!  Congratulations all around for the Cielo family and all of the players that participated.  The teams listed below qualified for State Finals and will be playing on Sunday, May 14th, which is right around the corner. Way to go, CIELO!!!

Spring Desert Cup Tournament April 28th - 29th

The semi-annual Desert Cup Tournament is finally here!  We are excited for challenging, exciting, and fun-filled weekend!  Tournament schedules were handed out this week, but they are also posted below.

Here is some basic information about tournament for those who are new or need a refresher:

• If your child is participating in tournament this weekend, their games are scheduled for either Saturday or Sunday, not both.
• If you child is NOT participating in tournament, there are no regular season games tomorrow.
• Games are held at the Scottsdale Sports Complex (see schedule below for directions).
• Each team will play 3 games tomorrow (see schedule below).
• Bring enough sunscreens, food, water, and snacks for the day.
• There are usually food vendors, but selection can be limited and varies by tournament.
• Check-in is 1 hour prior to your first game.
• Players in the 10-15 year old bracket need to bring some form of age verification.
• Official Activstars (former YCOA) jerseys are required to play.
• Teams that advance to State Finals Tournament will play on Sunday, May 14th ($20.00 tournament fee).  Qualifying teams will be notified by their coach.

Game #4 and Tournament Information

We hope everyone enjoyed the weekend off for the spring holiday.  It's nice to have extra time with family during this time of year.

Game #4 is tomorrow at Summit, and we are excited to see the kids again after a week off.  Please arrive at your normal game time and come prepared for the heat, because it it warming up fast!

The tournament rosters are below.  Please check the roster to make sure your child's name is listed if you signed them up for tournament.  Some of the younger teams were combined to ensure adequate playing time, so team names may be different from regular season games.  If your child has registered and is not listed, please let us know.  If you have any other questions, we will be happy to address them.  Tournament schedules will be at the check-in table tomorrow.  Please make sure to grab one.  It will have all the information you will need.

We are in dire need of parent-coaches for the 5-6 and two of the 7-9 year old teams.  Please let coach Sean know tomorrow or send an email if you are willing to help coach one of the teams.  Coach Sean will be at the tournament on both days, but he will be the field director for the tournament.  To prevent favoritism and reduce cost, coaches are not allowed to referee the games.  We depend on parent-coaches at tournament.  You do not need to have extensive soccer knowledge to coach, just a desire to help.  Thank you in advance!

I (Erin) will not be at the check-in table tomorrow, but Marissa will be there to run it.  If you have any questions, just ask her.  She's happy to help!

Last Day for Tournament Registration

Our Spring Desert Cup Tournament is just around the corner on April 29th and 30th.  Which means, the last day to register is tomorrow, Saturday, April 8th.  You will be able to register at the check-in table, and you can pay with cash, check or card.  I will be going to Palo Verde Park for the 10-15 year-olds tomorrow, so I can take card registration for them as well.  Please review the previous posts for more details about the tournament.

At the tournament, your child will be either playing on Saturday or Sunday.  Here are the age bracket allocations.  If you have any questions regarding the division of your child's team or you have a conflict with one of the days, please speak to Coach Sean or ask at the check-in table.

Saturday:
5-6 Silver
7-9 Silver
10-12 Silver

Sunday:
7-9 Bronze

First Game on Saturday and Upcoming Tournament

It happens fast as we are ready to begin the game portion of our season!  The games are a little different this year for the 10-15 age group, but it's all for the best.  We are excited for the change.

Games 5-6 and 7-9 year olds:

Spring Regional Tournament - April 29th and 30th

The Spring Desert Cup Regional Tournament is open for registration!  Please view the attached flyer below for all the details.  You can only register on-site, so you can complete the form and pay and the check-in table on Saturday.  The tournament is on April 29th and 30th, but the deadline for registration is April 8th.  It is an amazing, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Last Practice on Saturday - Games Begin Soon

This Saturday, March 18th (Cielo Elementary) is our last practice of the Spring 2017 season.  Our first game will be next Saturday, March 25th.  We will have the following information available at the check-in table tomorrow:

There is an important change for the 10-15 year-old age group, but we will have that information available tomorrow, and Coach Sean will explain after practice as well.  

Also, I have had issues sending mass emails to the group all season, and it's not been resolved.  Please just remember to check the blog for updates and important information.

Soccer and Believe Kids!

We are looking forward to another beautiful day on the field tomorrow.  Let's enjoy the weather before it gets too hot, because that happens fast!

ActivStars is also beginning its seasonal fundraiser with Believe Kids!  Here's an message from ActivStars:

ActivStars is committed to providing the best quality programs at the lowest cost possible.  This fundraiser will help offset rising expenses, so we can continue to keep our class fees as low as possible.  These funds we raise will also help fund scholarships for children in need.  Please helps us with these causes!

We are asking every family to participate.  All athletes that see at least 10 items or more will be entered to win the Android Tablet and a $25 Amazon gift card.  We are counting on these funds for the benefit of every child.  This funding does not come from other sources, so you participation, at any level, is critical.  Thank you for your support!

We will have the fundraiser packets tomorrow at practice. Participation is optional, but it really helps to maintain a high level of quality and low cost.  Their goal is for each child sell at least 10 items, but any amount will help!

Practice Updates

We are looking forward to practice tomorrow!  The weather is going to cooperate this week, so we will have a fun and productive practice.

For the rain-out practice last week, you have two options:

• Make-up class: Your child may participate in an additional hour of practice or game (when we begin games) to make up for the one that was cancelled.
• Refund: You can contact the Kyrene Community Education Department for a refund from last week's practice. 480.541.1500

5-6 Year-Old Teams ONLY:

• Due to the amount of students registered, we are combining to make 3 teams instead of 4.  All 5-6 year old practices will be held at 10 am at Cielo.

Practice is cancelled!

We gave it our best, but the rain is coming down hard. We are packin up and heading home. PRACTICE IS CANCELLED TODAY.. We will see you all next week.

Crazy Weather Loves Soccer

To answer everybody's burning question; YES, we have soccer practice tomorrow!  The only way we will cancel it is if it starts pouring when we are out there, or the fields are flooded.  If we do need to cancel practice due to weather conditions, we will post it on the blog.  I can't access my email groups from my phone, but I can update the blog.  If you're concerned, check for the most recent updates before your practice tomorrow.  The weather reports seem to change by the hour, so we will wait it out until tomorrow.  We plan to be there and have a great day of soccer!

Practice #3 - Bring on the Heat!

Time is flying by so fast, I can't keep up...hence another late post!  Saturday is almost upon us, and we are looking forward to another beautiful day of soccer tomorrow.  Tomorrow is the last day that we will be selling merchandise at the check-in table.  We will have soccer balls and shin guards to purchase at practice, but this is the last week.  The team uniforms will be available to purchase all season, but those are ordered with the raffle packet, and they take about 2-4 weeks to arrive.

Team rosters will be posted later tonight, so you can check them in the morning or later tonight if you're night-owls like us.  We are looking forward to another great season!  And yes, it's time to bust out the sunscreen; it's already getting warm!

First Practice

Registration when great last week!  It was so fun to see everyone out there after a relaxing month off.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our first official practice tomorrow, so check your team sheet that you got last week for your child's team and practice time.  Make sure to bring all your gear and plenty of water!

If you haven't done so already, please register for another wonderful Cielo Soccer Season!  There is an easy interface through the Kyrene Community Ed Deptartment for registration.  When you register, make sure you choose the CIELO soccer to enroll at our location, listed as ASSOCIES17.  You have the option to pay for the season in full for only $98.00, or you can make two payments of $49.00.  Just click the link below to go directly to the registration page for ActivStars Soccer at Cielo.
