Spring Desert Cup Tournament April 28th - 29th

The semi-annual Desert Cup Tournament is finally here!  We are excited for challenging, exciting, and fun-filled weekend!  Tournament schedules were handed out this week, but they are also posted below.

Here is some basic information about tournament for those who are new or need a refresher:

• If your child is participating in tournament this weekend, their games are scheduled for either Saturday or Sunday, not both.
• If you child is NOT participating in tournament, there are no regular season games tomorrow.
• Games are held at the Scottsdale Sports Complex (see schedule below for directions).
• Each team will play 3 games tomorrow (see schedule below).
• Bring enough sunscreens, food, water, and snacks for the day.
• There are usually food vendors, but selection can be limited and varies by tournament.
• Check-in is 1 hour prior to your first game.
• Players in the 10-15 year old bracket need to bring some form of age verification.
• Official Activstars (former YCOA) jerseys are required to play.
• Teams that advance to State Finals Tournament will play on Sunday, May 14th ($20.00 tournament fee).  Qualifying teams will be notified by their coach.

Game #4 and Tournament Information

We hope everyone enjoyed the weekend off for the spring holiday.  It's nice to have extra time with family during this time of year.

Game #4 is tomorrow at Summit, and we are excited to see the kids again after a week off.  Please arrive at your normal game time and come prepared for the heat, because it it warming up fast!

The tournament rosters are below.  Please check the roster to make sure your child's name is listed if you signed them up for tournament.  Some of the younger teams were combined to ensure adequate playing time, so team names may be different from regular season games.  If your child has registered and is not listed, please let us know.  If you have any other questions, we will be happy to address them.  Tournament schedules will be at the check-in table tomorrow.  Please make sure to grab one.  It will have all the information you will need.

We are in dire need of parent-coaches for the 5-6 and two of the 7-9 year old teams.  Please let coach Sean know tomorrow or send an email if you are willing to help coach one of the teams.  Coach Sean will be at the tournament on both days, but he will be the field director for the tournament.  To prevent favoritism and reduce cost, coaches are not allowed to referee the games.  We depend on parent-coaches at tournament.  You do not need to have extensive soccer knowledge to coach, just a desire to help.  Thank you in advance!

I (Erin) will not be at the check-in table tomorrow, but Marissa will be there to run it.  If you have any questions, just ask her.  She's happy to help!

No Soccer Today - Spring Holiday

Just as a reminder, there are no soccer games this week in observance of the spring holiday.  Enjoy the weekend with your families, and we will see you next Saturday!

Last Day for Tournament Registration

Our Spring Desert Cup Tournament is just around the corner on April 29th and 30th.  Which means, the last day to register is tomorrow, Saturday, April 8th.  You will be able to register at the check-in table, and you can pay with cash, check or card.  I will be going to Palo Verde Park for the 10-15 year-olds tomorrow, so I can take card registration for them as well.  Please review the previous posts for more details about the tournament.

At the tournament, your child will be either playing on Saturday or Sunday.  Here are the age bracket allocations.  If you have any questions regarding the division of your child's team or you have a conflict with one of the days, please speak to Coach Sean or ask at the check-in table.

Saturday:
5-6 Silver
7-9 Silver
10-12 Silver

Sunday:
7-9 Bronze
7-9 Gold
10-12 Gold
13-15 Gold (lone division)
